GREEN BANANA KOFTA

Green Banana (Kacha kela) is very healthy and  nutritious ,good source of fiber,vitamins and minerals.Raw/green banana best eaten cooked either boiled or fried.There are many tasty dishes we can make with unripe banana.I have made raw banana kofta in butter masala gravy and the taste is awesome.Try this recipe“THE GREENER THE BETTER”.

INGREDIENTS  :(For Kofta)

  • Raw banana (Kachha Kela)  4 pcs (boiled & mashed)
  • Onion (Finely Chopped) 1
  • Garam masala powder 1/2 tea spoon
  • Mustard or Olive oil 2 table spoon
  • Coriander leaves (chopped)  2 table spoon
  • Gram flour (Gram flour) 4 table spoon
  • Salt  to taste

Method:(For Kofta)

Step-1 Boil the bananas and peel off and mash first of all.

Step-2 One chopped onion, 2 chopped green chilly, 1 table spoon chopped coriander, salt and 1/2 tea spoon Garam masala powder. Mix all the ingredients and make small balls (12 to 15) with mashed banana.

Step-3 Take Gram flour in a plate and heat oil in the non-stick pan.Roll the ball in Gram flour and saute in the pan till gets light golden brown.

Keep it aside.

INGREDIENTS :(For Butter Masala

  • Onion  4 nos. (chopped)
  • Tomato  4 nos. (chopped)
  • Brown cardamom   1piece
  • Bay leaf   1 medium piece
  • Fresh cream   4 table spoon
  • Tomato sauce   2 table spoon
  • Kashmiri mirch  1 table spoon
  • Coriander powder  2 table spoon
  • Turmeric powder   1/2 tea spoon
  • Garam masala powder  1/2 tea spoon
  • Kasuri methi 1 tea spoon
  • Olive oil   3 table spoon
  • Salt  to taste

METHOD:- (For Butter Masala)

Step 1 Heat the  oil in this pan. Put Bay leaf and brown cardamom. add onion and sauté till it gets light golden. Now add tomatoes and sauté occasionally.  When tomato become little tender, add coriander, turmeric and tomato sauce. Saute for 5 minutes, then keep this mixture for cooling.

Step-2 When this mixture gets cool, take out Bay leaf and make a paste of this mixture.

Step-3 Heat the Kadahi/Pan  and put this paste and saute.  Stir properly add garam masala and Kasuri methi so that  mix well with this paste. Add some water (2 ½ cup) and Kashmiri mirch also. When boiling starts keep the flame on sim and add Kofta  and turn off the flame. Kofta is very soft so  it might break and become meshy so we should avoid to boil kofta in curry.

After 3 minutes garnish with  fresh cream serve hot.
